When assembling a room that is decorated with natural decor, the best way to add accessories to it is to find accents that are themselves natural. A natural design lends itself perfectly to a patio, garden room or sun room, however, this style can also work quite well in any room of the house. Any room that makes use of natural materials like stone or wood and pairs them with natural colors and fabrics is the perfect candidate for a natural room design.

Finding Inspiration in Nature

When incorporating natural decor into a room, consider using nature itself as the perfect inspiration for the design. Add plants or ivy to a room with a stone wall in it, and vines can also be laced through wood shelving with open construction. When using a beach cottage or garden theme in a room, use natural elements as accessories, and they will keep the design feeling balanced and cohesive. Frequently it is painted crisp white, and by adding colorful cushions and throw pillows to it, wicker furniture is a fresh addition to any natural room decor.

Incorporating Existing Elements into a Natural Design

Styling a natural room can be accomplished very inexpensively when reusing found objects to decorate the room. Include a basket of pine cones as a fragrant fireplace accent. Driftwood displayed on a coffee table is not only reminiscent of a wonderful vacation, but it adds an interesting design element to the room. Create a seashell wind chime from a walk along the seashore, or display a bowl of beach glass for a sparkling accent in the room. Press interesting leaves between two pieces of glass and frame for a natural wall display, and create a grapevine wreath to hang over the summer fireplace. It can be decorated with seed pods, dried flowers and ribbon for a colorful display. A vase filled with wildflowers adds texture and color to any room, and a crystal bowl filled with smooth river rocks adds an interesting textural element to the room. All of these elements fit beautifully into a natural room decor, and they are all absolutely free. Finishing off a room in this natural style can be a very inexpensive project that the whole family can enjoy together.
